After being abandoned at the hospital by her birth parents, she was adopted by faith-filled parents, Richard and Janet. Along with being able to do most daily tasks on her own, Amy is also an author, artist and motivational speaker. Even though Rahma Haruna was born healthy, when she turned six months old, she started to suffer the traumatic symptoms of a mystery condition. Then stomach pains. Then her body parts like hands and legs. When her chronic pain flares up, Rahma is left completely incapacitated and heavily relies on her family. Bathing her is another thing I do, and taking her out every day.
She was born without arms or legs due to a rare genetic condition, Tetra-amelia syndrome, which prevents limbs from developing properly inside the womb. And her incredible perseverance is so encouraging! But Guillermina insisted that her daughter could live a normal life and do anything she put her mind to. She encouraged her daughter to learn how to do things on her own, and Zuly credits her mother and God for being the source of her independence. Growing up, Zuly was mercilessly bullied. She was called an alien and some kids would even steal her snacks. She tried switching schools, but the taunting continued.
